Synovex Choice® is for growing steers and heifers in three production phases: in a dry lot, on pasture or in confinement for slaughter. Synovex Choice has demonstrated it increases weight gain in steers and heifers fed in a dry lot, on pasture or in confinement for slaughter, as well as improves feed efficiency in heifers fed in confinement. Synovex Choice is one of three TBA-containing implants approved for reimplantation programs in the confined feeding space.
Indications
For increased rate of weight gain in steers fed in confinement for slaughter, and for increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency in heifers fed in confinement for slaughter.
For increased rate of weight gain for up to 200 days in growing beef steers and heifers fed in confinement for slaughter in a reimplantation program where Synovex Choice is the first implant and a Synovex Choice, Synovex Plus, or Synovex One Feedlot implant is administered 60 to 120 days later.
For increased rate of weight gain in growing beef steers and heifers in a dry lot or on pasture.
-
- Synovex Choice gives steers and heifers an extra boost during their time at the feedlot because of its 10:1 ratio of trenbolone acetate (TBA) to estradiol-17B (E2).
- Synovex Choice demonstrated it can safely increase weight gain in steers and heifers that are in a dry lot production phase.1
- Zoetis now offers three options in growth implants for pasture cattle — Synovex Primer™, Synovex Choice and Synovex One Grower — to give producers the flexibility to match the available pasture and the performance goals of their cattle.

Combination of ingredients increases weight gain
- In dry lot research comparing Synovex Choice to a sham implant, cattle receiving Synovex Choice gained 2.50 lbs./head/day vs. 2.21 lbs./head/day (p = 0.0016) over the course of the 90-day study.1
- Research demonstrated that cattle receiving an implant with both trenbolone acetate and estradiol benzoate gained more than cattle receiving an implant with a single ingredient or no implant at all.2
-
One implant (four pellets), containing 100 mg of trenbolone acetate and 14 mg of estradiol benzoate, is administered to each steer or heifer by subcutaneous implantation in the middle one-third of the ear.
To administer Synovex Choice follow the instructions included with the applicator for loading the implant clip, cocking the applicator, disinfecting and cleaning, replacing the needle, and removing the implant clip.
Other than as described on the labeling, this implant is not approved for repeated implantation (reimplantation) with any other cattle ear implant in growing beef steers and heifers fed in confinement for slaughter as safety and effectiveness have not been evaluated.
-
Synovex Choice was the first beef-cattle implant to meet the higher environmental impact requirements by the Food and Drug Administration for new implants and label claims.3 After the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) reviewed results for those studies, Zoetis was issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) letter for the environmental assessment regulatory submission required for licensing. This submission included evaluations in waterways, air, plants and aquatic species.
